Empowerment Services

Freedom Resource Center assists people in working towards goals they establish for themselves. Whether it be resources to learn a new skill, some help with advocacy to get a needed service, the support of a mentor, or basic information on programs or equipment, Freedom helps people make informed decisions about how they will live their lives. Services include:

Information & Referral
Freedom Resource Center provides information on any disability-related topics, referrals to appropriate agencies and programs, and assistance in applying for services.

Eligibility: Anyone seeking disability related information and referral.

Independent Living Skills Training
Freedom Resource Center offers a variety of training to increase independence including budgeting, meal planning, social skills training, organizational skills, driver's test training and personal care.

Eligibility: Any person of any age who has a disability in the Freedom Resource Center coverage area.

Individual Advocacy
Freedom Resource Center staff provides assistance and/or representation in obtaining access to benefits, services and programs you may be eligible for. This includes teaching individuals to advocate for themselves and/or attending meetings with individuals. Freedom Resource Center works to ensure that people are empowered to make choices and have input in all aspects of their lives.

Peer Mentoring
Freedom Resource Center staff recruits and trains people with disabilities who can foster independence in others by becoming a peer mentor and matches them with individuals who may be experiencing similar situations.
