Freedom In Action

A monthly organized activity with Freedom Resource Center to re-discover our community, learn new skills, and meet new people.

The Wahpeton office will hold Freedom In Action events the 1st Tuesday of every month starting at 2:30PM.

May 1st will kick off our first Freedom In Action event by enjoying the Richland County Historical Museum with a guided tour, followed by refreshments and discussion at the Optimist Shelter in the Chahinkapa Park.

ALL are welcome to attend!

Hamm invites Fargo area consumers to attend free Medicare education event

BISMARCK, N.D.—Insurance Commissioner Adam Hamm announced today that the North Dakota Insurance Department’s State Health Insurance Counseling (SHIC) program is holding a free event in Fargo on April 18 for North Dakota consumers who want to learn more about Medicare.

The Turning 65 event is aimed at helping people new to Medicare understand the process and the options available to them. The free seminar includes information about Medicare Part D, Medicare supplements and Medicare Advantage plans.

“We receive calls every day from people new to Medicare that need help,” Hamm said. “This seminar is a great way to learn more about the program.”

Fargo’s Turning 65 seminar will be held 6:30–9 p.m. Wednesday, April 18 at the Doublewood Inn, 3333 13^th Avenue South.

Freedom goes to St. Paul

On Tuesday, March 27, Freedom staff and volunteers took a road trip to the Minnesota Capitol. The trip was an opportunity for Minnesota residents to experience their state government up close and personal. Believe me, it was up close! That same day, 100s of union members were at the Capitol Building expressing their opinion on a bill before the legislature. At times it was difficult to keep track of everyone, but we came back with the same amount of people we left with!

We had the honor of visiting with Senator Langseth and Representatives Lanning and Marquart to thank them for their support of people with disabilities. We hope to do it again next year!
