When choosing a cane or walker, it is important to get one that fits.  If you are using a cane or walker that is too short, you cause stress to your shoulders as well as your back.  These are problems that nobody wants.  A cane or walker is intended to assist the user with mobility, not create additional problems. Check out this link from mayoclinic.org. It shows what to look for when selecting a walker, as well as takes us through our first steps using it.  Also, for those who are looking for a walking cane, there is this link.

If you or someone you know needs a mobility device but are not sure what would work best or where to get one please call Freedom Resource Center at 1-800-450-0459 or visit us at freedomrc.org.
