Direct Support Bill Introduced
Earlier this week we covered the shrinking workforce tasked in taking care of the most vulnerable population. If you missed it, I will share it again here. Today, there is hope that something can be done about it. Recently, a direct support bill called the Direct Care Opportunity Act was introduced, giving many a reason for optimism. Check out this story on Disability Scoop. It is difficult for agencies to attract and retain direct care workers. With unpredictable schedules, a lack of health benefits and low pay, there is little incentive. The Direct Care Opportunity Act takes aim at all of these issues.
People deserve to live in their communities, stay in their own homes as long as possible, and not have to worry about how to make that possible.
