Freedom Friday: Procter and Gamble make Herbal Essence Shampoo and Conditioner bottles Accessible

 In Miscellaneous

It is one of those things I know I take for granted: that I know what bottle in the shower has the shampoo in it. For someone who has vision issues or is blind it really can make living independently more challenging. Some people have used hacks such as always placing items in the same place or making items stand out with tactile reminders such as rubber bands, but Procter and Gamble have made a step in the right direction by adding their own accessibility feature to their line of Herbal Essence shampoos and conditioners.

TeenVogue has an article on it and it says, “According to Herbal Essences, the newly redesigned bio:renew shampoo bottles will feature a row of raised lines on the bottom of the back of the bottle — “S” for shampoo, “S” for stripes — while the conditioner bottles will have two rows of raised dots in the same place — “C” for conditioner, “C” for circles. The new and much improved bottles will be available in stores beginning January 2019.”

Some companies are starting to get the picture. You can watch the video at the end of photo of woman who is blind holding herbal essence shampoo bottles with new accessibility featurethe article so make sure you scroll down!
