Motivational Monday: First Modeling Agency for People with Disabilities
“We want to change that. We want it to become the norm to see people with disabilities in the media the same as anybody else and we want to give our models the same opportunities. So we put our models forward for the same jobs as any other model would get put forward to regardless of their disability,” said Laura Johnson.
This is a step in the right direction and hopefully, it means that soon that all modeling agencies will hire a diverse pool of models. Its been 28 years since the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act officially declaring American citizens with disabilities equal but we are still working on it.
It is exciting to see people with disabilities making it into mainstream media and entertainment through and we hope that it reaches a point where it is less trendy and more to the point that it isn’t “big news”.
