National Disability Voter Registration Week
We all know by now that voting is important. We have witnessed disability rights triumphs like the passage of the 1973 Rehabilitation Act, Education of All Handicapped Children Act of 1975 and the Americans with Disabilities Act. Passage of this and other vital legislation did not come easy. Disability advocate groups and activists around the world continue to fight for equal rights. One of those rights, the right to vote, should not be taken lightly. Check out this story from Disability Scoop. It is estimated that 48.9 million people in the U. S. have a disability. That number is of great significance. And fortunately for North Dakota residents, voter registration is not required. Just remember to bring your ID.
