Snow removal and your rights

Snow drifts can cover routes, making it impossible to get through.

If you grew up in this area you are familiar with snow storms. You probably remember being snowed in at some point in your life. If you are familiar with  snow removal guidelines you are also aware that it could take a while until sidewalks are accessible again.   We talked about how this applies to the ADA here.  We also mention how this applies to people with disabilities living in apartments here. So if the snow just ended yesterday, here is a list of things to keep you active until you are able to find your way out of your apartment. And I can’t stress enough on how important it is to keep in touch with other people.  Talk to your neighbors, your friends and your family.  If you are going somewhere, tell someone when you are leaving and when you expect to arrive at your destination.  I prefer to stay warm and safe at home when travel is questionable, but if you must go, be safe and remember to dress for the weather.
