Who We are
About Freedom Resource Center
Freedom Resource Center is a nonprofit disability rights organization serving western Minnesota and southeastern North Dakota. We envision a community where people with disabilities are equal and valued participants in society.
Overview
At Freedom Resource Center for Independent Living, we’ve always been guided by the principle “Nothing about us without us.”
We believe people with disabilities are equal and valued members of society. We meet people where they are, empowering them to live independently and build the life they choose. Through advocacy, skills training, mentoring, and accessibility information, we break down barriers, promote inclusion, and create more possibilities.
Freedom Resource Center (FRC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit disability rights organization serving people of all ages and disabilities, free of charge.
Our mission: to provide services that increase independence for people with disabilities.
Our vision: A world where people with disabilities are equal and valued participants in society.
We proudly serve counties in West Central Minnesota and Southeast North Dakota.
Our work is made possible through state and federal grants and the generous support of donors and organizations who believe in our mission.
Freedom Resource Center is part of a nationwide network of Centers for Independent Living (CILs) with more than 300 across the United States.
Each CIL is led and guided by people with disabilities. Fifty-one percent of our team (Board & Staff) are people with disabilities who understand the unique needs of those living with disabilities.
Centers like ours are federally mandated under Section 725 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended in 1998.
Our team works alongside people of all ages and all disabilities to:
- Identify and remove barriers
- Connect to resources and opportunities
- Build skills for everyday life
- Promote accessibility and inclusion in our communities
Dedicated to your independence.
